Character Design for Ravenloft
Welcome to the Ravenloft campaign. We will be playing a horror campaign in Ravenloft. A rough and tumble environment that perhaps one character may not be enough. Back ups are strongly encouraged.
The subsequent are some devices that are required before play. There are also an experience number attached to these guidelines. These figures are bonuses that will be applied before we start the campaign. All characters after submission will be reviewed by the DM for final approval.
General Plan
Stat Points. Use the point system to allocate stat points. The following is the formula; 28 points to spend, with Stat 18=16pts, 17=13, 16=10, 15=8, 14=6, 13=5, 12=4, 11=3, 10=2, 9=1 (Note: That at level four grants an additional full point to your ability stats.)
Starting Level. Starting experience is 40,000, plus bonus experience (see below).
Hit Points. The Avatar’s hit points will be max at first level. Then half the hit die +1 for the consecutive levels there after.
Starting Gold. 18,000 + 100 gp per your highest craft, profession, or perform skill point (include appropriate ability score modifier as well) for your starting gold to buy equipment, gear, a mount, magical items, magic scrolls, etc. You can use the DMG to find the prices for magic items and scrolls prices.
Books. Available books for character creation are the Players handbook 1 & 2, and complete books.
Race. Standard races in PHB. Optional Races are available upon request.
Alignment. Any good alignment is expectable.
Make two Characters. One character will be a back up for the other. I will introduce both in the game, but only one will be played at a time.
Ravenloft the Wicked. The world of Ravenloft brings a horror and Goth to 3.5 D&D, and the optional rules for taint, horror will be role-played in this campaign all variant rules will be posted on the Ravenloft Blog.
Online Communication. About 20% of this campaign will have on-line activity. I will have a blog page for our campaign, which will detail the adventure that your characters will undertake. You might need to respond to some information through blog’s or E-mail.

The Setting
Ravenloft is primarily a Gothic horror setting. Dungeon Masters are encouraged to use scenes that build apprehension and fear, culminating in the eventual face-to-face meeting with the nameless evil. Characters have a much greater significance attached to their acts, especially if they are morally impure, as they risk coming under the influence of the Dark Powers (through the game process called "dark powers checks") and gradually transforming themselves into figures of evil.
The magical mists of Ravenloft could appear anywhere in the Dungeons & Dragons universe, drawing evil-doers (or player characters) into the Ravenloft setting.

What is Ravenloft
Ravenloft is a campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. It is an alternate time-space existence called a "pocket dimension" with the name "the Demiplane of Dread", which consists of a collection of land pieces called "domains" brought together by a mysterious force known only as "The Dark Powers". Each domain is mystically ruled by a being called a "Darklord", which is a person or monster who has committed an act or acts of evil so foul as to attract special attention from the Dark Powers. The darklords are imprisoned within the borders of their domains and cannot escape by any means, although most can seal their domain borders with a thought. Within their domains, the darklords are forever tormented by the objects of their desire (often the objects they committed their crimes to achieve), which the Dark Powers dangle before them like the fruits of Tantalus. Each darklord's desires and motivations differ; some desire love, others hunger for glorious victory, or one might envy the defeat and humiliation of their enemies like another rival darklord.
